Woman dead, 3 injured in landslide at Baltal; Yatra suspended

JULY 17: In an appalling incident, a woman pilgrim dies while three other sustained injuries owing to landslide that triggered along Baltal track in Ganderbal district amid Amarnath Yatra.

Taking cognizance of this, the authorities have suspended the holy pilgrimage temporarily.

As per the reports, the landslide triggered at Z-mode sweeping several pilgrims downhill along the Baltal route.

It is learnt that the injured were rushed to the Baltal Base Camp hospital, where a woman identified as Sona Bhai, a resident of Rajasthan, was declared dead on arrival.

In the meantime, the authorities no fresh batch of pilgrims will allowed to approach the holy Shrine today owing to landslides and heavy rainfall along the pilgrimage trek.

Pertinent to mention, as on 15 July more than 2.34 lakh pilgrims have paid obeisance at the holy Shine dedicated to Baba Barfani.

The 38-day-long pilgrimage is scheduled to culminate on August 9, 2025.
