Jammu’s 19-year-old Aarav Mahajan earns call-up to Uttarakhand Ranji Trophy squad

Showcasing remarkable consistency with the bat, 19-year-old top-order batter Aarav Mahajan from Jammu has been named in the 18-member Uttarakhand Ranji Trophy squad for the upcoming domestic season.

Aarav’s selection is the result of a stellar run in multiple age-group tournaments including the Cooch Behar Trophy (U-19), Vinoo Mankad Trophy, and the CK Nayudu Trophy (U-23), where he piled up nearly 700 runs with three centuries and three fifties at the U-19 level. In the U-23 format, he further impressed with a composed 87-run knock.

Having attended three National Cricket Academy (NCA) camps, including the most recent at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence, Aarav was ranked 17th among the top U-19 run-getters in India last season. Though narrowly missing a national call-up, his consistent performances have paved the way for his promotion to the senior setup.

Cricket observers see his inclusion as a major step in his journey towards higher honours.

Uttarakhand Ranji Squad: Kunal Chandela (Captain), Prashant Chopra, Bhupendra Lalwani, Avneesh Sudha, Yuvraj Chaudhry, Shashank Dangwak, Anjana Suryavanshi, Jagdeesha Suchit, Mayank Mishra, Harsh Patwal, Sourav Rawat (WK), Janamjai Joshi, Devendra Bora, Rajan Chaudhury, Abhey Negi, Jagmohan Nagarkoti, Sagar Rawat, Aarav Mahajan.
