JULY 15: In a tragic and appalling incident, a tempo ferrying over 20 passengers met with an accident in Doda district leaving 5 casualties and 19 sustained wounds.
As per the reports, the tempo skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge near Ponda on Doda road wherein 5 casualties have been reported and 19 persons sustained injuries.
On the heels of this, a rescue operation was launched in the area.
DC Doda Harvinder Singh apprised that out of 19 injured persons, three have been referred to GMC Jammu.
“Efforts are underway to provide the best possible medical aid to the victims, the Bhart road was recently blacktopped but the vehicle was overloaded and investigation has been initiated in this regard,” DC said.
DC Singh assured from Victim Accident Fund the compensation will be given to all.
Earlier, MoS PMO Dr Jitendra Singh posted on X, “Just now spoke to DC Doda, Sh Harvinder Singh on receiving the information about a private tempo road accident in the vicinity of Bhart village, about 20 to 25 km from Doda city. 3 casualties reported so far, 4 others critically injured. All possible help and medical aid being provided. DC is personally supervising the entire exercise and giving me regular updates. Any further assistance, as required, will also be provided. My sincere condolences to the families of the deceased.”
