In a fervent appeal to safeguard cultural identity, Javed Ahmed Rana, the Minister for Tribal Affairs, addressed a gathering at the Tribal Mela held at Sagra, Mendhar, urging community collaboration to protect tribal heritage. His remarks came during the colorful event organized by the Tribal Affairs Department, in conjunction with the District Administration of Poonch, showcasing the rich traditions of the Pir Panjal region.
Rana stressed the importance of collective and sustained efforts in preserving the values that define tribal communities. He argued that development must not come at the cost of cultural erosion. Highlighting the necessity for an integrative approach, the Minister warned that unchecked modern influences could pose a significant threat to the fabric of tribal customs and moral frameworks.
Reflecting on the Omar Abdullah Government’s commitment to inclusive development, Rana stated that they aim to construct a resilient, self-reliant tribal society that remains anchored to its traditions.
