Russian plane with 49 people on board crashes in eastern Amur region

A Russian passenger plane with about 49 people on board has crashed in the eastern Amur region bordering China. The An-24 passenger plane, operated by Angara Airlines, had disappeared from the radar while approaching its destination, Tynda, Russia.

Following its disappearance earlier today, the local authorities deployed “all necessary forces and means” to search for the missing plane.

According to local media reports, rescuers located the burning fuselage of the missing Russian passenger plane.

“Emergency services reported finding the crash site some 15 km from the destination. Debris and signs of fire were spotted from a helicopter dispatched in response to the incident. Rescue workers on the ground are currently making their way to the fallen aircraft,” reported Russia Today.

While there was no official confirmation on casualties, all are feared dead.

According to news agency Reuters, there were 43 passengers, including five children and six crew members, on board the ill-fated plane.
