Tarun Chugh Criticizes Farooq Abdullah on Operation Sindoor

BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh criticized National Conference president Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Monday for his remarks undermining Operation Sindoor and the pivotal role of security forces in counter-terrorism efforts. Chugh’s statement came in response to Abdullah’s assertion that the operation had yielded no significant outcomes.

Chugh described Abdullah’s comments as “shameful” and highlighted the need for respect towards the sacrifices made by the armed forces. He underscored that security personnel had successfully destroyed multiple terrorist training centres in Pakistan following the tragic loss of 26 civilians in Pahalgam, a location known for its picturesque landscapes that has witnessed dark elements of terrorism.

According to Chugh, Operation Sindoor continues to be critical in addressing ongoing threats, particularly in light of recent terror incidents. He pointed to the blast at the Nowgam Police Station as “yet another reminder” of the bravery and dedication exhibited by security forces in combatting Pakistan-backed terror plots.

He further claimed that the Abdullah family, along with other political figures like the Muftis and the Gandhi family, routinely display tendencies that align with the interests of Pakistan and the ISI, despite their prominent political positions in India. Chugh stated it was “shocking” for Abdullah to cast doubt on the competence of security forces during a time when local police and intelligence agencies had uncovered one of the “biggest terror conspiracies” in recent history.

Chugh confronted Abdullah directly, asking if he was attempting to empathize with individuals responsible for stockpiling 2,900 kilograms of explosives intended to harm innocent civilians. The BJP leader elaborated that this foiled terror plot represented a “colossal” threat that could have resulted in unfathomable devastation had it not been intercepted.

During the Nowgam Police Station explosion, nine personnel of the Jammu and Kashmir Police lost their lives while managing the seized explosives, a tragedy Chugh described as “heartbreaking for the entire nation.” He asserted that Abdullah’s failure to recognize these martyrs’ sacrifices displayed a troubling inclination towards echoing sentiments typically associated with Pakistan.

Instead of honoring the courage that thwarted potential mass casualties, Chugh contended that Abdullah’s language mirrored that of the Pakistani Army and its intelligence service. This, he argued, exposed the so-called ‘Gupkar Gang’ and raised questions about whether the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi endorsed such rhetoric while promoting their “Mohabbat Ki Dukaan” political initiative.

Chugh’s remarks serve as a reminder of the volatile political landscape surrounding security issues in Jammu and Kashmir. The recent spate of terrorist activities underscores the necessity for a united front against such threats, with security forces playing a critical role in safeguarding national interests.
