AUG 14: In a bid to dismantle the terror network, security forces on Thursday arrested three terrorist associates at Hajin Kralgund area of Handwara in Jammu and Kashmir.
It is learnt that a joint team of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army and CRPF during a search operation apprehended three terrorist associates.
The apprehended terrorist associates have been identified as Mohd Iqbal Pandith, resident of Bunpora Langate, Sajad Ahmad Shah of Chekparin and Ishfaq Ahmad Malik resident of Kralgund.
From their possession, one pistol with 2 rounds, 20 rounds of AK Rifle and 20 posters were recovered.
Meanwhile, Police have registered case in this regard and investigation has been taken up.
While addressing the media, IGP Kashmir VK Birdi has apprised that the longest Security Operation (Op Akhal) of the current year, lasting for more than 10 days, in Kulgam is in the final stage. He also apprised that till date two soldiers have made the supreme sacrifice and two terrorists have been neutralized in the gunbattle.
“Operation Akhal in Kulgam has reached its final stage,” Birdi said on the sidelines of the full dress rehearsal for the Independence Day celebrations at Bakshi Stadium.
Besides, Kishtwar encounter that raged on August 10 is in progress and the corden has been reinforced as security forces continue the operation, mobilizing cutting-edge technology to hunt down the terrorists.
On August 13, Indian Army thwarted an infiltration attempt in Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir wherein one soldier made the supreme sacrifice. Notably, the infiltration bid was likely supported by Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT) qualified in cross-border raids.
