The District Administration of Anantnag launched a major crackdown on illegal structures linked to drug trafficking, demolishing 15 establishments during a drive at Waghama in Bijbehara on Saturday. This enforcement action comes as part of the 100-Day intensified Nasha Mukt J&K Campaign aimed at eradicating drug-related activities in the region.
Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling narcotics networks across Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing the importance of eliminating illegal assets associated with drug trafficking. Drug-related crimes have surged in the region, prompting the administration to take stricter measures.
In a coordinated operation, revenue officials worked alongside local police to carry out the demolitions. The operation targeted 15 shops that had been illegally constructed on State and Kahcharai land, specifically on Khasra Nos. 2494 (min) and 2495 (min) in Estate Waghama. Officials noted that these structures had connections to individuals involved in violations of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
This significant operation not only resulted in the demolition of illegal structures but also successfully reclaimed encroached public land. The recovery of this State and Kahcharai land represents a crucial win for the administration in restoring public assets.
The District Administration remains firm in its approach, declaring a zero-tolerance policy against drug peddlers and illegal encroachments. “We will continue to take strict and sustained action against those involved in the narcotics trade,” stated a spokesperson from the administration. Dismantling illegal properties linked to the drug trade forms a central strategy to disrupt the supply chain of narcotics in Anantnag.
Moreover, the administration issued a stern warning that any individuals found participating in drug-related activities or illegal encroachments will face serious legal repercussions. The authorities aim to send a clear message that illegal activities will not be tolerated, as they work toward a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.
The Nasha Mukt J&K Campaign aims to create a safer environment for residents, reducing drug abuse and enhancing community welfare. This recent demolition drive signifies the ongoing efforts of the administration to combat the pressing issue of drug peddling while reclaiming public land.
