In a decisive move against drug trafficking, Srinagar Police on Tuesday attached property worth approximately ₹1.20 crore linked to infamous drug peddler Nisar Ahmad Sheikh. This action forms part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, aimed at eradicating narcotics and their impact on society.
The police acted under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, executing this attachment through Police Station Nowhatta as part of FIR No. 61/2019. This FIR pertains to various sections of the NDPS Act, specifically Sections 8 and 20, which deal with the illegal possession and trafficking of narcotics.
The confiscated assets include a fully renovated three-storey residential property, a separate single-storey concrete kitchen block featuring three washrooms, and a total land area of 09 marlas. These valuable assets belong to Sheikh, a resident of Kani Dewar, Sheikh Mohallah, Hawal in Srinagar.
Investigations unveiled that Sheikh acquired this property through the proceeds of illicit drug trafficking. Authorities confirmed that due legal processes were followed and the assets were identified as illegally obtained under the provisions of the NDPS Act.
This latest operation by the Srinagar Police reinforces their commitment to dismantling the financial networks that support drug trafficking. Srinagar Police emphasized the importance of community support in combating drug abuse and trafficking, urging citizens to report any suspicious activities.
